We love this unusual and wonderful antique Mauchline 2-piece sewing set from Scotland. This set consists of a spool cotton reel dispenser and a needle/pin lidded container. NOTE: The reel dispenser has wooden spindles that hold six spools allowing the thread to be fed through six, bone-rimmed “portholes” for the sewer’s easy access. A fun and unique treasure to have, an extraordinary find for that special someone!
Mauchline (pronounced Mawk-lun) Ware was a line of keepsakes and decorative items produced from about 1850 through 1933 by small shops in and around Mauchline, Scotland. Many of these keepsakes bore the images of Scottish castles, abbeys, lochs and rills.
