Rich vermilion red and delicate black painted decoration give this attractive Italian toleware covered urn its distinctive charm. A central lyre, horns and stringed instrument nestle within a leafy wreath tied with flowing ribbons, while repeating botanical flourishes adorn the lid and lower border.
The tall cylindrical body features a decorative scalloped rim, small shaped feet and a tapered lid topped with a black finial. Subtle wear lends texture to the painted metal surface, adding to its old-world character. A striking decorative accent for a console, mantel or bookshelf, with warm color and an enchanting musical theme.
